INTRODUCTION
THE ART OF SOUND
During the early 20th century, Sweden became a forerunner in social and industrial development.
One where engineering and artistry merged inta a functional movement to improve everyday life
for the masses. Defunc (design + function) is a celebration of that movement.
When Defunc was established in 2015, founder Johan Wahlbäck, gave himself a challenge:
Make it easier for people to find the right product in a maze-like earphone
market.
The result was a collection of no-frills earbud models with
descriptive names and clearly defined purposes, available at a price range to suit most
wallets.
This functional design ethic has remained with us ever since. Whether it’s
about earbuds, over ear-headphones or wireless speakers, all our products still come with a
specific area of use in mind. The way we see it, great sound is about creating truly purposeful
audio experiences.
Our mission to simplify people's audio choices soon began to reach ears
beyond Sweden. Today, we are present in over 35 markets, from America to Asia. We've come a long way
from our humble beginnings in a small office in Stockholm with just a few employees and a dog.
